Inception-Kick off Meeting of JSPS-GRIPS-MSRI research project titled on “Impact of Mechanized System of Rice Intensification in Bangladesh” held on today (12 August, 2021) through online platform. Mr. Khalil Ahmed, Director General (Additional Secretary), RDA, Bogura, Bangladesh graced this occasion as Chief Guest. Mr. Kazushi Takahashi, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan and Principal Investigator; Dr Mohammad Abdul Malek, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the project; the as co-researchers Yuko Nakano, Associate Professor, University of Tsukuba; Professor Yoko Kijima, GRIPS; Yukichi Mano, Associate Professor, Hitotshobashi University attended the session. Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, Bangladesh and Focal Person from RDA, Bogura; Representatives of Socio-Consultant Limited; Research Associates and RDA, Bogura of the project attended the ceremony.
The research project will be implemented jointly by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan and Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogura, Bangladesh. It will demonstrate mechanized System of Rice Intensification (SRI) technology in 25 villages comparing another conventional SRI technology in 25 Villages in five districts in Bangladesh. Additionally, it will also publish different research papers based on the data of the project activities, will make video documentary and will conduct training activities for the respective farmers for next three years.
